Over the past few years, extensive clinical research has been conducted in the treatment of unwanted wrinkles, Rosacea, textural irregularities and skin blemishes caused by the sun and aging, facial spiders, sun damaged dark spots, freckles, and the loss of elasticity causing sagging of the skin, large skin pores, acne breakouts and scarring.

For extreme cases of any of the above problems, medical procedures have been developed with good success. These include laser skin resurfacing deep chemical peels and surgical facelifts. Many people don't need invasive procedures requiring considerable healing time. They can now be treated with non-invasive methods.

We offer several different methods to treat the conditions listed above. These treatments are described below.

PhotoRejuvenationTM

A new procedure has shown remarkable results in restoring a youthful appearance and elasticity to the skin, while eliminating brown spots and sun-damage on the face, neck and hands. The procedure is called PhotoRejuvenation, and it may be the fastest growing aesthetic procedure in the United States. Laser skin resurfacing and chemical peels have been the treatment options used most often to resolve these skin problems, but "downtime" and discomfort are their side effects. On the other hand, our new PhotoRejuvenation procedure uses intense pulsed light waves to effectively resolve age and sun-damaged skin problems with no "downtime".

IPL Photorejuvenation treats redness of vascular origin (including symptoms of rosacea) and the brown-toned pigment of sun damage, while the therapeutic light energy reaches deeper to the level of the collagen. Skin improves with an even-colored tone, smaller pore size, smoother texture and a more youthful, rejuvenated look.

A Photorejuvenation program consists of five (5) treatments, three weeks apart. Each treatment treats the entire face. Treatments usually take 20-30 minutes and the discomfort is minimal and well-tolerated. The light is transmitted through a small, smooth, flat glass surface. The hand-piece is held gently against your skin by the operator. It gives a smooth, evenly-colored look and a youthful complexion. Patients can return to work or other activities immediately.

Results are long lasting. In most cases, additional treatments are not needed. Maintenance treatment three months apart are occasionally required.

Freckels and sun damage spots may turn dark briefly in the days following treatment in the process of resolving. The darker areas will typically flake off in 7-10 days. The treatments may cause temporary redness, edema, bruises, or other color changes. These are easily covered with make-up, if necessary.

Photorejuvenation can be effectively used on other areas such as the neck, hands and the chest.

There is no need to miss work or stay at home after this procedure. You can go back to work immediately after treatment, with only the radiant glow of healthy skin as evidence a procedure was performed. An added bonus is that while this procedure is resolving those brown and red spots, facial spider veins, deep pores, acne scars, etc, it is also restoring your skin's youthful vitality by rejuvenating collagen, which is the source of skin elasticity. Other procedures can treat only one of these problems at a time. Our PhotoRejuvenation procedure treats all these conditions simultaneously, while also restoring elasticity to the skin.

You will notice a dramatic improvement in the appearance of your skin from the very first treatment. However, four to six treatments are required, with each treatment lasting about an hour. The entire face is treated during each session, and the result is a smooth, youthful complexion all over. This is an exciting new breakthrough, and we think you'll be delighted with the results.

MicroDermabrasionTM

A new science in skin care has arrived. MicroDermabrasion has been especially beneficial in the reduction or removal of hyperpigmentation (brown spots), fine lines on facial skin and around the mouth. This procedure rejuvenates collagen to help smooth the skin, decrease the appearance of pores, and in many cases, eliminate acne and minimize acne scarring. You will see immediate improvement in your skin's appearance. The effect of MicroDermabrasion is a younger, healthier complexion. Any skin type or skin color can be treated on any part of the face or body. MicroDermabrasion can be done on your lunch hour, and there is no down time associated with this procedure.

Normal side effects: Avoid direct sunlight or tanning beds for the first 48 hours. The skin may feel tight, as if exposed to the sun or wind for a day or two after treatment. Keep skin well moisturized.

Adverse effects: Minimal and primarily short term. Possible swelling, redness and/or sensitive to the touch.

Medical Microdermabrasion

This treatment uses both microdermabrasion and chemical peels to potentiate the benefits of each and yet they are used at the same time or during the same treatment session.

Botox

The number one cosmetic treatment today uses a chemical to relax the muscles causing wrinkles on the face. With an injection, that is almost painless, the muscles are able to relax preventing the wrinkle lines associated with the use of the targeted muscles. Different areas of the face are treated with varying amounts of the chemical. Thus the cost of treatment varies. The treatments are not expected to last forever and need to be repeated often during the year.

Chemical peels

We use fruity acids such as glycolic and lactic acid to remove the outer layer of skin gently and still penetrate deep into the lower skin to stimulate healing in the deeper layers. Different concentrations of acids are used to achieve the desired results.

Bleaching

We use hydroquinone to decrease the melanin pigment in the outer layer of the skin that causes the brownish hyperpigmentation or dark spots on the surface of the skin.

Oxymist

This is a new treatment for the skin using amino-acids and other herbal products in a liquid form that uses oxygen as the delivery agent. We have found that the skin heals faster and more completely after other skin treatments such as microdermabrasion and chemical peels.

Facial Skin Care

Skin care assistance is provided in our Aesthetic Center by utilizing various methods. They are called, the Detoxifying treatment, Azulene recovery treatment, Basic micellular treatment, and the Paraffin stress treatment. Each one provides different benefits to the skin and is administered by our licensed aestheticians.

Skin care products are also handled in this office and patients are encouraged to use them if it is felt to improve the condition of their skin either during or after skin care treatments or just because they are felt to be helpful by the patient.
